Q: What does the L3 marking on your housings mean?
A: The L3 logo that is actually a marking telling you about something on the inside. L3 is a technology. Specifically, a continuously lubricated liner technology. While the housing liner is being extruded a small amount of specially formulated DuPont lubricant is injected into the liner. As the liner continues through the manufacturing process the lubricant coates the inside of the liner and begins to chemically adhere to the liner. The liner is not “full” of lubricant. Rather, the inside of the liner is coated with lubricant. We add lubricant to both our brake and derailleur housings because it reduces friction in the places your shifting or braking system needs it most; where the housing bends. The L3 liner technology also does a lot for how your brake and shift levers feel in your hands; everything feels smoother.
